Snæfellsnes

On 2. August 2015

My first thing in Iceland was a wonderful drive up to the wonderful penninsula of Snæfellsnes, around an two hours drive north of Reykjavik. Well that is, if you don´t stop for taking pictures all the time! We had the whole day and weren´t in a hurry luckily. And Iceland was welcoming us with sunshine! So it was easy to fall in love with it!

Our first stay was a horse farm near the famous Snæfellsnes mountain…… Took a ride with the Icelandic horses to the beach the next morning. How wonderful!!!

Our next stop was the little fishermen´s nest of Arnarstapi with its famous rock formations out in the sea. Loved walking through the lava fields around the black church of Budir.

After that we drove further up to the north side of the Snæfellsnes penninsula, passing the national park around the vulcano. A heavy storm was our travel companion that day, but we made it safely to Stykkisholmur, where we took the ferry to the island of Flatey the next day!
